"Logistics are crucial to accomplishing any goal. For my run, I tried to get as much information and communication together as I could, but in the end, you still have to just do it.” Helene Neville

Step #7: Create a Detailed Plan

Begin a detailed plan of your journey.

  • Pick a route. How to pick a Route
  • Pick a start date. Keep in mind the length of time it will take you and the seasons you'll experience.
  • Determine what you'll be carrying. (Don't forget hygene and safety items) What to Pack
  • Determine your daily budget, your housing options, and your general food plan.
  • Determine your upfront expenses for gear and clothing.
  • Determine if you'll be self supported or if you'll have a helper with transportation. Or both.
  • Determine how far you'll run each day. Be sure to make sure you have a plan for water stops and nightly stops. Start low and slow and work up your mileage. Once you find your groove, you'll get real good at finding places to sleep.
  • Spend time thinking about all the details.
  • But in the end you have to just do it.
